WoW Upgrades - The item upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the Best item upgrade's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to avail the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
