WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item level upgrade (super fast reply) used to upgrade the item upgrade will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

For instance, it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade equipment you have and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character that will be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
