Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item upgrades in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Items with weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as eth Titans have little changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

To upgrade an item of armor, the player must choose it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.

There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be placed in any type of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from earlier versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a handful of key items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several items.

Once an item has been finished being leveled, it will be able to receive an upgrade set of components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as Artisan’s Energy and it resets at 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

After a piece has been upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes available is contingent on the type of item it is. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes available for it, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests based on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.

If an item level upgrade doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item upgrades with a new set or upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of material but will have less chance of success.
