Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Items with weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with strong bases, like eth Titans have little changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an added bonus or effect when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, thrown away by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they can be upgraded.

In order to upgrade an item of armor, the player must select it, and then click the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be, as well as the material or component needed for the upgrade to take place.
