Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item Upgrader Mod upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of damage or more AD or even more affixes.

Often times however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item upgrade they're attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged by using a specialist or higher salvage kits to recover upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage that an armored item upgrading or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it must be heavier.

There are several types of armor upgrades available in the game and they all have distinct effects. For instance, some upgrades will grant the armor a certain amount of health points while others make it lighter and stronger. The type of armor upgrade that an item upgrade will receive is indicated by the name of the upgrade, as indicated in the table below.

These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

All tiers of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a certain level to obtain them. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without damaging the original. You can only replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.

Utilizing more jewels in a move will make it feel smoother, and is often performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to improving performance, the diamonds create an area that is stronger than steel, so the repeated friction with pivots doesn't damage them as easily.

In addition to the above upgrades, the player can also obtain glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be traded, but they are not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Crystal. The first trinkets a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and the ability to escape. The player will then be able to acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar manner as they did with weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any piece of equipment.
