Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to a stronger base. Items with strong bases, like eth Titans have little change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They provide an attribute benefit, or extra effect, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved as loot by enemies, or obtained from chests and missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players must select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar.
